Ortsspezifische Versionen der Container-Installation wurden f\u00fcr die folgenden Projekte produziert:

\u201cEuropean Corrections Corporation\u201d, Container-Installation am Stadtplatz in Wels (AT) in Zusammenarbeit mit der Galerie der Stadt Wels im Rahmen von Festival der Regionen, 28.06.\u201305.07.2003
\u201cEuropean Corrections Corporation\u201d, Container-Installation am Sendlinger-Tor-Platz in M\u00fcnchen (DE) im Rahmen eines Projekts vom Kunstraum M\u00fcnchen, 16.04.\u201302.05.2004<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Institution Gef\u00e4ngnis ist ein Instrument der Disziplinierung, der Bestrafung und des Ausschlusses und fungiert als Agent der Kontrolle und Normierung. In der heutigen Gesellschaft kommt dem Gef\u00e4ngnis zudem eine wichtige Rolle als \u00f6konomischer Produktionsort zu, an welchem die Gefangenen zu Niedrigstl\u00f6hnen arbeiten m\u00fcssen. Davon profitiert vor allem die sich immer weiter ausbreitende private Gef\u00e4ngnisindustrie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seit den 80er Jahren erzielen in den USA Konzerne wie Wackenhut und Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) durch die Errichtung und den Betrieb von Gef\u00e4ngnisanstalten hohe Profite. In den letzten Jahren gewinnen sie auch in Europa immer mehr an Einfluss. Sie betrachten den europ\u00e4ischen Markt als Wachstumsbranche, an der sie so fr\u00fch wie m\u00f6glich teilhaben wollen. CCA forciert den Bau und Betrieb von teilprivatisierten Gef\u00e4ngnissen in Frankreich. Wackenhut und CCA bauen und betreiben au\u00dferdem bereits seit mehr als zehn Jahren Gef\u00e4ngnisanlagen in Gro\u00dfbritannien. Dort wurde seit der \u00d6ffnung des Gef\u00e4ngnissystems f\u00fcr private Konzerne kein einziges staatliches Gef\u00e4ngnis mehr errichtet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das Projekt \u201eEuropean Corrections Corporation\u201c fokussiert das Ph\u00e4nomen der voranschreitenden Privatisierung von Gef\u00e4ngnissen in Europa und stellt die Institution Gef\u00e4ngnis in Frage. In Fu\u00dfg\u00e4ngerzonen in Graz, Wels und M\u00fcnchen wurde ein begehbarer 605 x 243 x 259 cm gro\u00dfer Container platziert, der von einer bedruckten Plane ummantelt ist. Auf der Plane ist eine detaillierte mit Texten kommentierte CAD-Grafik zu sehen, die die m\u00f6gliche zuk\u00fcnftige Privatisierung und den Umbau der Strafanstalt vor Ort durch einen privatwirtschaftlichen Konzern visualisiert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wie reale Konzerne versucht EUCC (European Corrections Corporation), das Gef\u00e4ngnis als deterritorialisierten Produktionsort innerhalb der kapitalistischen \u00d6konomie zu nutzen und stellt ein Modell f\u00fcr die gewinnbringende Verwertung der Arbeitskraft der Gefangenen vor. So sollen durch einen Neubau von Gef\u00e4ngnisgeb\u00e4uden in den Strafanstalten Graz-Karlau und Wels und in der Justizvollzugsanstalt M\u00fcnchen-Stadelheim die Haftpl\u00e4tze verdoppelt werden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
