Oliver Ressler hat im Grazer Forum Stadtpark eine kritische Bestandsaufnahme des \u00f6ffentlichen Umgangs mit der Diskussion um die Gentechnik zusammengestellt. Das Projekt des K\u00fcnstlers ist als Gegengewicht zu den zur Zeit stattfindenden f\u00fcnf \u201eGen-Welten\u201c-Ausstellungen (Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der BRD in Bonn, Deutsches Hygiene-Museum in Dresden etc.) konzipiert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The text reads: Contrary to previous claims by industry and science, genetically engineered plants can establish themselves in the ecosystem and alter it. Manipulated genes can infest microorganisms and genetically manipulated plants can cross with wild and cultivated plants. Once released, these organisms and their manipulated genes spread uncontrollably and irreversibly. These genetically manipulated organisms and the newly constructed genes cannot be brought back to the safe confines of the laboratory. CAUTION \u2013 BIOHAZARD!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Das Resslersche Ausstellungsprojekt \u201egeGen-Welten: Widerst\u00e4nde gegen Gentechnologien” besteht aus drei Bestandteilen. Einer Plakatserie mit Warnhinweisen in Graz, Warnschildern, die in verschiedenen Kunstinstitutionen in Deutschland, der Schweiz und \u00d6sterreich angebracht sind (etwa der Galerie und Edition Artelier in Graz, der Generali Foundation in Wien, der NGBK in Berlin und der Shedhalle in Z\u00fcrich) und der Ausstellung im Forum Stadtpark.
Die Ausstellung zeigt Informationsmaterial wie Flugbl\u00e4tter, Manifeste oder Informationsbrosch\u00fcren von gentechnikkritischen Organisationen.
Gegliedert ist die Schau in einzelne Themenbereiche, wie Gentechnik in der Landwirtschaft, Gentechnik und Feminismus oder Biologische Kriegsf\u00fchrung, die umfassend dargestellt werden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ein Anschlag der militanten Frauengruppe \u201eRote Zora” auf ein Gentechniklabor f\u00fchrte Ende der achtziger Jahre zur von der Wirtschaft, der Politik und den Medien Hand in Hand betriebenen Kriminalisierung fast der gesamten Gentechnikgegner. \u201eDie Kriminalisierung setzt bei Frauen an, die radikale Standpunkte zu Gentechnologie vertreten, die sich eben nicht auf der Ebene \u2018Chancen und Risiken\u2019 in die vorbestimmten Diskussionen integrieren lassen. Denn Gentechnologie ist als Ganzes ein Herrschafts- und Kontrollinstrument\u201c, hei\u00dft es etwa in einem Flugblatt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \nThe text reads: Biological warfare research takes place, unnoticed by the general public, in the grey areas between medical, veterinary and agricultural research. The use of \u201ccivil\u201d research for so-called \u201cbiological weapons\u201d clearly demonstrates the dangerous and uncontrollable nature of genetic engineering. Also, genetic engineering is used to develop pathogens such as manipulated anthrax bacteria \u2013 against which every possible enemy is absolutely defenseless \u2013 and which requires the immunization of the attacking troops. These animal organs are \u201chumanized\u201d through genetic engineering in order to prevent a fatal rejection of the animal organ placed into the human patient. Xenotransplantation will make it easier for humans to be infected by pathogens once limited to animals. Many animal diseases have no cures and the effects could be more dangerous than BSE (\u201cMad Cow Disease\u201d).\nCAUTION \u2013 BIOHAZARD!\n<\/div><\/div><\/li>\n <\/ul>\n <\/div>\n \n <\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
